The plant is used medicinally in the treatment of dysentery The juice would quickly soothe earaches.
The infusion of leaves relieves fever, migraine, rheumatic pains and digestive disorders.
The leaf sap is commonly used to expel intestinal worms and other parasites, to treat urinary problems and as a mild laxative to treat constipation.
The crushed leaves are also used as a poultice on boils and infected wounds. Do not use with children under 5 years old, or with pregnant or breastfeeding women.
